Buster Wants To Fish!

Most serious fly anglers will probably know the expression, “Buster Wants To Fish.” It’s lightly edited from a fun scene in the iconic fly fishing movie, “A River Runs Through It.” One of my longtime clients, a builder of two-handed and Spey fly rods approached me recently wondering about a domain name that included the famous expression from the movie.

A quick check and I discovered that while the .com version was taken, the .net was available. “Perfect for what I want. Grab it for me!”

Bob Meiser has been a very long time client of ours going back to about 2002 or maybe it was even 2001 when he called my office expressing an interest in our web development services for his niche business. We have enjoyed a great relationship over the years and worked on perhaps 4 website redesigns over the 22 years. The quality and craftsmanship of his rods are second to none, and although he’s a small manufacturer compared to the big names, he ships rods and rod blanks all over the world. His reputation in the Spey and Two-Handed fly rod fans is well known.

He has recently decided to venture out into a new but related business – providing his designed specialty fly rods and components via an e-commerce website to those who enjoy custom building their own.

We know there will be some keen interest in this new venture so we’ve gone ahead and launched a landing page where interested folk can also sign up for updates on the new business and enjoy special offers after it has launched. I do know that some of my own clients, acquaintances and friends will be interested in this; much of our business began with a focus on small fly shops, custom rod building component shops, and even a smaller but well known manufacturer of carbon graphite fishing rod blanks.

If you’re an angler, especially one that enjoys fly fishing or Spey casting, this might interest you and perhaps you might to consider building your own Spey Rod. I can’t say for sure at this point, but even if a Spey rod is too much for you, many of his components will likely be suitable for lighter fly rods as well.

Check out the landing page and be sure to sign up for the announcements of the website going live with full functionality – R.B. Meiser’s Buster Wants To Fish!

That’s really great! I know both you and Meiser, and have enjoyed your work in the fly fishing niche. I also love Meiser’s two-hand rods.

Yes, the expression “Buster Wants To Fish” is well known and perfect for the new shop. Best wishes to all for a successful new business. Ian, I know you’ll get it done right so we can build our own rods with Meiser components!
